Perceptions and Identity: A Retrospective
Perceptions + Identity: A Retrospective is an exhibition organized by Genre: Urban Arts in collaboration with Quest Project, UWM TRIO & PreCollege Programs in which youth and adult program participants over a span of two months examined elements of identity, specifically, the perceptions placed upon their person in conjunction with their own sense of identity.
This multimodal exhibition was first inspired by works created by artist Von Canon, guided by his interview with Genre: Urban Arts. Additionally, the curriculum that structured this work sprung from Ekphrasis writing curriculum developed by Nakeysha that centered on the Black Boys Bloom, Too series by Von Canon.
We invite you to our multimodal virtual exhibition. Artists will be on hand 12-2pm to receive guests and discuss their installations and processes of creation.
A special thanks to our collaborators, sponsors, and media partners Quest Project, UWM TRIO & PreCollege Programs, University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, and Woodland Pattern Book Center.
