Stronger

a poem by Tiffany Pennywell

How many timesHave I lost myselfBy holding my own blindersOr letting someone hold them For me There have been timesWhen I did not know My own identityAnd I let myself Blow casually in the windI was so small thenFrailSeeing my worthIn others' eyesInstead of my ownAnd there's a part of meThat wants to go back in timeAnd tell myselfThat my worth can not be defined By anyone else but meBut if I turn back timeWould I be who I am todayWould I be worse for wearOr strongerIt doesn't matterFor who I am today is strongerBetterAnd who I will be tomorrowWill be even greater
