One, Two, You
a poem by M. G. Hughes
The saxophone blares
Every mountain stares
And here I’m singing
One, two, you
The sunflowers sway
April is a new forte
And here I’m humming
One, two, you
The car door swings
Pacific is on its way
And here I’m smiling
One, two, you
The wind whispers poems
A hand summons Apollo
And here I’m thinking
One, two, you
The evergreen’s hair turns grey
Every mockingbird finds its cage
And here I’m cooing
One, two, you
The tombstone is now my friend
My eyes have lost their ink
And here I’m still saying
One, two, you
