It’s safer to drown with yourself
and now we’ll stitch ourselves back upinto the shells that allow us to transverse this lifeback into a place that keeps it all at arm's lengtha place where water is just above our headsbut we don’t ever drown—an ocean of our ownwhere we gulp down all the what if’s and let the salterase all the maybes from our tongues while the sunabove scorches them from our dreamswe are safe here—safe from all the possibilities of them, of us.safe from all the wandering of a love starved mind.
