"Did I Scare You?"

a poem by Jonathan Brooks

Glowing eyes fixated,
With subtle menace,
She sat and waited,
As the unsuspecting,
Victim she had seen,
Then she leapt,
A piercing scream,
The face of terror,
A man with crazed alarm,
Caught the girl,
Within his arms..
“Did I scare you daddy?”
“Did you see me?”
“You scared me good”,
“You little monkey”
