1, 2, 3 Go

A poem by Alex Ewing

Sneakers squeaking,Black tar pavement,Little rock like edgesIncreasing the heat.Sun barreling down.

Parachute,Hopscotch,Two square,Tired.So thirsty…Line at the water fountain,Water so cold.1, 2, 3 go,My teacher says.

Not enough time,Still dehydrated.Need more,Trying to beat the clock.1, 2, 3, go,My teacher says.

The sun going down,In glory, satisfied.
