Three Minutes of Fame
a poem by Andrea Laws
anenemy of unknown bondage
strapsits straps on thee
diggingdeeper and deeper in
skinwanting to be free
“play it again!” they yell
satisfyingtheir thirst
biddingtowards hell
butnever leaving first
enemy’shidden beauty
fillsthese guilty walls, but
nowat the hour of death
theyyield
stretchingon stony depths
representedby marks
thissociety only approves by
uncommitted barks
