Preservation

a poem by Joe Sullivan

Idreamed about you

becauseyou’re all I can

thinkabout

andI’d like to have

otherthings to think about

butnothing is as beautiful

asthinking about you

andI can never touch you

becauseI want to preserve you

likemosquito in amber

fromthe Pleistocene epoch

ondisplay for all time

inthe museums of paleontological

evidenceacross the world

untilthe world is swallowed

bythe sun and all memories are

nothing
