I am a Human

a poem by Talin Likha

“Don’t you feel anything? A person just died!”
Angry and upset,
she glared at me with those furious eyes.
Rage was all she knew at that moment,
for I made her question her faith on humans.
“It’s not that I am heartless or stone cold,” I smiled.
“I’m just a bit less sensitive.
It’s just that I have grown used to,
to death and goodbyes.
But please don’t think in beloved’s death I wouldn’t cry.
Because I would,
I am a human,
and I love,
even though I don’t want to.
No matter how hard I try.”
