city slick
a poem by Kaitlin Smith
in the city where the rain sleeps,
white dust settles on the blackened skyline.
drought fleshes martyrs in the promised weeps
in the city where the rain sleeps.
(alleys aglow in the night for the godless reaps
& the strangers of downtown wait for the revival wine.)
in the city where the rain sleeps
white dust settles against the blackened skyline.
