As individuals, we build our own prisons
Jail ourselves for things we’ve done wrong
Even if they aren’t our fault, we take the
blame
Suffer through the consequences
My prison is strong
Sturdy as my mind designed it
There’s only so long a person can stare
At the same four walls
Over and over again
Before they lose sight of who they are
Who they used to be
Sometimes, the only person we need to
forgive
Is ourselves
