False Prophets
a poem by Nakeysha Roberts Washington
Proclamations of nothingness
multisyllabic language
gains you the applause you’re seeking
But depth is as existent
as were the emperors new gear
Your mother should have named you fairy tale
you cover up actuality very well
for those distracted by shiny things
shying away from those who keep silent
interrogating & analyzing every detail
as a once over will reveal
your manifesto is but a poorly constructed fallacy
binding breaking due to lack of care & over use
how distasteful this facade has made you
it must be exhausting
always pretending your illusion is truth
