Dried Preserves

a poem by W. M. Faulkner

Find one dead man ascribed not the epithet

Undeserved

Sing him his hymn’s choral scarlet retrospect

Underserved

Taught tendons flayed, aimed at brother’s disrespect

Unreturned

Infantry men cut brutal jeweled pirouettes

Unobserved

Latent rot, lush and blooming, mother’s birth debts

Unincurred

Memories descend through your organelles’ eject

Dried preserves
